Live instructor-led classes
Learn directly with an instructor in a regular live class rather than
simply following prerecorded videos.
Bringing Tai Chi classes, guided online learning and in-person workshops
to regional communities.
Living outside a major city shouldn’t mean missing out on the opportunity to learn Tai Chi.
We’ve heard from people in regional communities who would like to learn
Tai Chi but simply don’t have a regular local class available.
Shang Tai Chi wants to change that.
We’re currently taking expressions of interest from people across regional
Queensland and New South Wales who would like to learn Tai Chi with us.
Our first areas of interest include
Gunnedah, Narrabri, Tenterfield, Stanthorpe, Warwick, Moree
and surrounding communities.
A town may have people who want to learn Tai Chi without having enough
demand to support a permanent local instructor.
Learn directly with an instructor in a regular live class rather than
simply following prerecorded videos.
Where possible, we’ll create groups around individual towns so you can
learn alongside other people from your local area.
Continue learning at your own pace with Shang Tai Chi’s structured
online lessons and practice resources.
When enough people in a community are interested, we’ll look at
travelling to your town for face-to-face workshops and special
training sessions.
You don’t need to be flexible, fit or experienced in Tai Chi.
In fact, you don’t need to know anything about Tai Chi before joining us.
Our beginner programs introduce Tai Chi progressively and focus on
developing:
Build confidence, control and awareness in everyday movement.
Develop comfortable movement, coordination and body awareness.
Explore relaxation, controlled breathing and a practical Tai Chi
practice you can continue developing.
At Shang Tai Chi, we call the broader idea behind our approach
Capability for Life: using thoughtful movement practice
to help maintain the physical capabilities that matter in everyday life.
Rather than deciding where people should want classes, we’re asking
regional communities to tell us.
If enough people register from your town, we’ll contact you about forming
a local beginner group and potential future workshops.
Gunnedah, Narrabri, Moree and surrounding communities.
Tenterfield and surrounding communities.
Stanthorpe, Warwick and surrounding communities.
Boonah and surrounding communities.
These aren’t limits. If you’re somewhere else,
we still want to hear from you.
Registering your interest doesn’t commit you to anything and there is
nothing to pay.
It simply helps us identify communities where people genuinely want
Tai Chi.
Tell us:
Leave your details and we’ll let you know if a group begins forming
in your area.
If you have a small group of friends, neighbours, colleagues or
community members who would like to learn together, contact us.
You don’t necessarily need twenty or thirty people to get started.
We’re specifically exploring ways of helping small regional groups
learn together, supported by live instruction and our online learning
platform.
As local interest grows, we can then explore bringing Shang Tai Chi
to your community for an in-person workshop.
We’d also like to hear from organisations interested in bringing
Tai Chi to their local community.
Neighbourhood centres, seniors groups and U3A organisations.
Retirement communities and health and wellbeing organisations.
Councils and community programs interested in Tai Chi activities.
We’d be happy to discuss what might be possible.
Sometimes all it takes is a few people in a community saying:
“We’d like to do this.”
If that’s happening in your town, we’d like to know.
